Tips for Spending an Inexpensive Night on the Town 
As sick as we may all be getting with the blather about the credit crunch and ensuing depression (in both senses of the word), the bare and murky depths of one's wallet quite prevents a nonchalant attitude. You don't have to be an investment banker or a billionaire to feel the pinch of the recent financial crisis; slowly but surely, it has found its way into the pockets and prospects of most people. While the state of affairs may take a bite out of your shopping lists and Christmas gifts, it doesn't have to interfere with one of life's best activities - clubbing. A bit of cleverness and some due preparation will help ensure the home buying market hazard doesn't render you a homebody.
    
If it hasn't hit you yet, transportation is a major factor in the price you pay for a good night out. The price of petrol, combined with the tax on your patience while looking for a spot to park (not to mention the risk of getting stuck with a ticket), are unnecessary cash traps. Taxis, while convenient, can add extra pounds to your bill. Take the tube, enjoy a walk, or hop on a bus instead. You'll also be doing the environment a favour; an act of kindness rewarded by some clubs, including Surya, which offers discounts for those arriving via public transportation.
    
Accept equal opportunity billing. It's a new century; women's rights have come a long way, as have equal pay initiatives, and it's time to open up to the notion that females can foot the bill for drinks when they want to. If you're a guy, and used to picking up the tab for everything, let a date express her own financial independence with a sharing of the expenses.
    
Lay off the top shelf liquors. Let's face it - if you're having to pare down your alcohol allowance each week, you're probably drinking enough not to notice the subtle differences between a nice normal cocktail and that monstrous ten pound affair with the unpronounceable name. Get into the groove of saving a buck and bypass the flashy booze - you'll appreciate bringing it out again as a rare treat for holidays and special occasions, anyway.
    
Times may be financially tightening, but it doesn't mean the clubbing spirit has to take a hit. Start out your night with sensibility and you're sure to find it's just as fun and fundable as ever to take London for a Saturday night ride.

BTV is run by promoters in the form of venues, event managers and table bookers. We aim to present their events to you in an unbiased way and to give them a solid set of tools to market and secure ticket bookings.
